Thinking of travelling abroad and worried about healthcare risks
? On a gap-year & thinking of touring some out-of-the-way places

This First Aid Course is ideal for individuals who are travelling
abroad, such as gap year students or those planning an adventure
holiday. This course is suited to those with little or no previous
first aid knowledge.
By the end of the course you will have an understanding of basic
first aid, be able to deal with life saving situations and develop
the skills needed to treat everyday illness or accidents with confidence.
It is very focused on self care.
Topics covered:
- Pre-trip health advice including what to take with you
- Safety awareness whilst travelling
- Dealing with bites & stings (including rabies)
- Personal health like food poisoning, dehydration, heat
stroke
- Blood borne & S.T.D. (sexually transmitted disease)
- Basic Life Support
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty (recovery position)
- Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is bleeding
or shocked
- Assessment and treatment of fractures, dislocations and
head injuries
- Assessment and treatment of burns, eye injury, asthma,
diabetes, epilepsy and severe allergic reaction will be
covered in this course.
